We aim, throughout the school, to foster a positive attitude towards the learning of mathematics.
Children have a daily maths lesson and maths is also used throughout our creative curriculum.
Lessons are well paced, exciting and differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils.
A variety of schemes and approaches are used in the teaching and learning of number, shape, space and measure, data handling, using and applying knowledge and problem solving. An emphasis is placed on children learning/developing and using a range of calculation strategies.
The older children are expected to learn their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of year 4 so they are prepared and confident in using their tables. This year the Year 4s will be completed an online times table test set by the government.
