SCHOOL & GROUNDS
Go back to Our School...
The school is set in beautiful , spacious grounds. There are two large fields, a playground, a trim trail and an outdoor swimming pool. All children receive swimming lessons in the Summer Term and the PTFA also run pool sessions after school and for a week in the Summer holidays
There is also a large nature reserve, which includes a pond. We are very grateful to the working party of parents and volunteers who help keep the nature reserve under control.
Each class has its own raised garden, which they have designed. These are proving to be a huge success providing lots of excellent learning opportunities. The children have had a wonderful time preparing the ground, planting different seeds, caring for them, harvesting crops and tasting some of the produce.
The children planted a variety of crops including potatoes, runner beans, onions, lettuces, carrots, peas, tomatoes and herbs. The produce is sold to parents/carers and money raised is ploughed back into this enterprise initiative. We also have a very popular lunchtime gardening club.
Autumn 2014 saw the opening of our fabulous, new Arts Room. We are extremely grateful to the PTFA for their contribution of £6000 towards the cost and also to the Parish Council for providing funding for a new cooker.
We have an active, thriving PTFA who fundraise and arrange a variety of activities for both children and adults.
The school has a wonderful ICT suite which contains 20 computers, projector and whiteboard.
There are also computers and interactive whiteboards in all classes. These together with a wide range of resources including IPads, digital cameras, video cameras, interactive Go Link sensors, digital microscopes and control toys/robots help enhance and embed ICT across the curriculum.
We have a fantastic outdoor adventure play area, which is used at playtimes and during curriculum time. It is on an all weather surface, enabling use throughout the year.
The playground is divided into two sections. There are markings on the playground to stimulate play and there is also a 'friendship bench'.and 3 gazebos which provide seating and shade. We also have two large fields.
We have a large outside classroom, which is used for a variety of actvities, including turning it into a French café.
Children in years 3 and 4 are trained as Playpal leaders and they organise games at break and lunchtime.
